| Accelerated
Reader Bake Sale: |
|
This
committee is responsible assisting in the annual Accelerated
Reader Bake Sale. Volunteers are needed to bake baked
goods and sell baked goods during lunch. Volunteers are
also needed to decorate the school during Visitor's Day. Proceeds
support the Accelerated Reader program for all grade levels
and for the Media Center. |
| Art
Masterpiece: |
|
Organizes
the Art Masterpiece program for the school. Volunteers
make brief classroom presentations, twice per month, on famous
artists and their work. The Mesa Public School district
offers training; no art experience is required. |
| Book
Fair: |
|
This
committee is responsible assisting in the semi-annual Book
Fair Nights held at Crismon (Sept and May). Volunteers
are needed to work at checkout table for students/families
purchasing books. Proceeds support the Accelerated Reader
program and other library programs. |
| Cougar
Chronicle: |
|
This
committee is responsible for assisting in the publication of
Crismon's school newspaper. Volunteers are needed to
type the Chronicle on a semi-monthly basis per the publication
schedule. |
| Donations: |
|
Seeks donations from
a variety of sources to minimize costs associated with the
activities and events of the Crismon PTA. If you are
interested in helping with the committee, please contact the
chairman or any board member. |
| Grocery
Receipts & Shopping: |
|
Local
and internet merchants offer incentive programs to help Crismon
PTA earn funds to support its programs. 2-3 Volunteers
are needed to advertise and set up grocery
receipts (Fry's, Safeway & Basha's) and merchant
rebate programs (e-Scrip and Target). |
| Health
Screening: |
|
This
committee is responsible for assisting in the Fall and Spring
Health Screening activities. Volunteers assist health
staff with vision and hearing tests by escorting students to
and from classrooms and recording data. |
| Hospitality: |
|
This
committee is responsible for activities throughout the year
that are geared toward showing the Crismon teachers and staff
that we appreciate their efforts on behalf of the children
of Crismon Elementary. Some of the special events activities
that are typically planned include the following:

Welcome Back Breakfast

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon (see Special Events) |
| Imagitorium: |
|
Volunteers
assist with hands-on arts-based learning program by interacting
with students during a 2-3 week timeframe. Early morning
and afternoon volunteer sessions are available. |
| Labels & Boxtops: |
|
There
are many product labels and boxtop programs available to Crismon
to earn money or school supplies. Volunteers are needed to
advertise these programs, clip, collect, submit Big
G box tops and Campbell's labels. |
| Legislative
Liaisons: |
|
These
volunteers monitor education-related activities in the state
legislature and inform Crismon PTA members of current issues
and ways to participate in the legislative process. While individual
liaisons may have their own opinions, this (like all official
PTA activities) is a non-partisan effort. The goal is to keep
PTA members informed and to encourage participation, not to
lobby for any particular side of an issue!

| Mobile
Education: |
|
Volunteers
are needed to coordinate the annual Mobile Education presentations
to Crismon students (dates TBD). Volunteers assist the
Crismon staff Fine Arts committee representative as needed. |
| Papa
John's Family Night: |
|
This
fundraiser will help to raise funds to support Crismon Elementary's
Student Council. Volunteers are needed to advertise the
event and copy materials for distribution to students. |
| Picture
Days: |
|
This
committee is responsible for assisting with Crismon's Picture
Day (Sept and March) and retakes (Nov). Volunteers
are needed to assist the photographer by organizing students,
collecting picture envelopes, straightening hair, etc. |
| Printer
Cartridges for Classes: |
|
This
committee is responsible for identifying and supporting Crismon
classrooms and teachers with two printer cartridges to begin
the school year, as sponsored by the PTA budget. |
| Printer
Cartridge Recycling: |
|
Coordinates
the Crismon Printer Cartridge Recycling program/ fundraiser.
Volunteers are needed to coordinate the program by advertising/promoting
the program in the Cougar Chronicle and flyers, collecting
and mailing cartridges in pre-paid mailings, and coordinating
receipt of payment. |
| Red
Ribbon Week: |
|
Volunteers
are needed to decorate the school for Red Ribbon Week (October). |
| School
Board Liaisons: |
|
This
is the local version of the Legislative Liaisons. The goal
of these volunteers is to keep PTA members informed of current
issues facing the Mesa Public School Board, as well as opportunities
to participate. These volunteers will attend the Mesa Public
Schools Governing Board meetings (open to the public). This
is also a non-partisan committee. |
| Sixth
Grade Yearbook Signing: |
|
Sixth
grade parents are needed to serve on a planning committee for
a special parent/teacher-hosted final celebration for 6th graders. This
event is usually held in May. |
| Skateland: |
|
This
committee is responsible for organizing and advertising the
Skateland events, held 2-4 times per year for Crismon students. |
| Snack
Day: |
|
Organizes
Snack Days for Crismon students, normally during the lunch
period every 2nd Thursday, Sept - May. Volunteers are
needed to help operate PTA popcorn and sno-kone machines (no
experience necessary; machines are easy to operate). |
| Student
Tutoring Club: |
|
Volunteers
are needed to assist in the Before and After School tutoring
sessions for Crismon students held in the Media Center. Early
morning (7:45 - 8:15 a.m.) and afternoon (3:00 - 4:00) volunteer
sessions are available. Flexible schedules are offered
to suit the needs of volunteers. |
| Talent
Show: |
|
This
committee is responsible for assisting in the annual Crismon
Talent Show. This event showcases Crismon students'
many talents. Help is needed to assist during try-outs,
rehearsals, and the show. |
| Teacher
Appreciation Luncheon: |
|
PTA
hosts a luncheon during Teacher Appreciation Week to honor
our teachers. Help is needed to provide food, and to
serve and clean-up. |
| Yearbook
Processing: |
|
Volunteers
are needed to assist the yearbook teacher with collecting orders
in January and distributing the yearbooks in May. |
| Volunteer/
Nominating: |
|
These
volunteers recruit other volunteers for the committees and
events sponsored by the Crismon PTA. Volunteers are also sought
to assist the teachers and administration of Crismon Elementary.
Two months prior to electing a new board, these volunteers
assist in nominating interested candidates for board positions.
(Additional nominations will also be taken prior to voting.) |
